Frequently Asked Questions About LifeGuardian Medical Alarm Systems

Answers To Your Most Commonly Asked Questions
Q. Why should I choose a LifeGuardian™ Medical Alarm System?
A. LifeGuardian™ Emergency Medical Alarm Monitoring Call Center is one of the oldest and most experienced in the nation. For over a quarter century, our professional emergency medical dispatch center has successfully handled over 3 million emergency calls.

Q. Is there a difference in medical alarm companies?
A. Absolutely! Some of our competitors are small home security or alarm companies who may offer medical alarms on the side to help supplement their business. Some are new to medical alarms and have been in business for just a few month or years. Many other offer cheap, low quality equipment (100-200 foot range) that does not provide anywhere near the same level of protection. Other monitoring companies may not be experienced in responding to the unique needs of seniors activating their medical alarms. Even pharmacies and drug stores sell home medical alarms without any experience whatsoever.

Q. How does a home LifeGuardian™ Medical Alarm System work?
A. A home medical alarm system typically consists of a base console unit that plugs into any standard telephone jack in the home. The system will usually include a call-for-help button that is worn by the subscriber. Additionally, when setting up your account, we will need for you to complete a Subscriber Information Form. The personal, contact and medical information you provide is entered into the monitoring service center database. When the call-for-help button is pressed, the base console is activated and calls the monitoring center. Your account information appears on an emergency medical dispatcher's screen and they will announce themselves over the two-way speakerphone built-into the base console. The subscriber simply speaks in a normal tone of voice and tells the monitoring center dispatcher what type of assistance is desired.

Q. Does it have to be an emergency to press the LifeGuardian™ Medical Alarm System call button?
A. No! The friendly, professional medical monitoring center personnel are there to assist you in any way possible. If you need us to call a friend, neighbor or family member we are happy to help.

Q. What happens if the call-for-help button is pressed and the LifeGuardian™ Medical Monitoring Center can not hear or speak with the subscriber?
A. Our center will attempt to call the home on the telephone to see if we can verify an emergency. If we are unable to verify it is a false alarm, we assume it is a medical emergency and immediately dispatch your local paramedics. Then, once paramedics have been dispatched and have been provided with critical medical information on file, we will attempt to reach someone on the pre-established call list to let you know the system was activated and help has been summoned.

Q. Can you call neighbors, friends or family members before you dispatch paramedics?
A. Of course. The goal is to get assistance to the subscriber as soon as possible. Simply provide us with written instructions on what you would like to have us do when a call comes in.

Q. Can family members, friends or neighbors be notified by text or email message in the event the call button is pressed?
A. YES! Our new LifeGuardian Pro™ Medical Alarm System offers that feature.

Q. Does a  LifeGuardian work in my home/town?
A. LifeGuardian systems work in all homes throughout North America (USA and Canada) if you have local phone services - including cable modem service. LifeGuardian can not work with VOIP or "voice over internet" service providers.

Q. How much does a LifeGuardian Medical Alarm System cost?
A. Generally, you can expect the cost to be only about $1/day for most of our service plans. We offer discounts for equipment purchases, senior citizen specials and signing-up for quarterly or annual plans. To view our pricing plans, simply select which LifeGuardian system you are interested in (LifeGuardian Home or LifeGuardian Pro) and visit the "Pricing Plans" page.

Q. Is there a long term contract or agreement required?
A. With LifeGuardian™ Medical Alarm Systems, you choose the term you feel most comfortable with - monthly, quarterly or annually.

Q. If I need to cancel my agreement early, are there any cancellation fees or early termination penalties?
A. LifeGuardian™ Medical understands that circumstances can change. We have never assessed a cancellation fee or early termination charge.

Q. What kind of warranty is there on my LifeGuardian™ Medical Alarm System?
A. Every LifeGuardian Medical Alarm System is covered under our exclusive 100% Equipment Warranty. For as long as you subscribe to the LifeGuardian Medical Monitoring Center, we will repair or replace anything that fails to operate as new - including batteries!
